Wow! The Japanese Garden near the Seattle Arboretum is incredible! I highly recommend it for a picnic lunch on a hot day. I met Hiedi and Andrew through my real estate agent, Gebran Melki who hired me to photograph their house before they put it on the market. They are a fun, straightforward couple who came to our photoshoot well-coordinated but not too matchy-matchy and a natural knack for posing. We had a great time exploring the park and Hiedi’s gorgeous Coach purse made it through the shoot despite being “taken care of” by her busy nephew while we photographed!

I worried all week before Kelli and Andy’s early June wedding. My fellow Washingtonians will remember that summer didn’t start for us until the last week of June and Andy and Kelli had a beautiful outdoor wedding planned. Kelli is one of those lovely, kindhearted people who you want everything to go perfect for. Saturday came and the sun started to peek through the clouds. It was just enough sun, just enough warmth and the wedding really was beautiful.

I did a very cold last minute shoot on Saturday morning. The builders at Snoqualmie Ridge put on an outdoor pancake breakfast for all of their new homebuyers. The breakfast, catered by The Upper Crust, looked delicious, complete with gourmet sausages made from the real estate agent’s grandmother’s recipe. Unfortunately, the weather gods didn’t get the memo and it was so cold you could see your breath hanging on the air. But there were still plenty of photo ops; including a stray dog from Tukwila who interloped through the party : )

When I took my first photography class in college, I was lucky to have a readily available model at home; my sister Jamy. Some people just know how to make eye contact with the camera. Recently Jamy and I had a farewell dinner in Ballard before she departs for an adventure in Alaska. Here are a few shots I snapped of her:

Your engagement is a time of unlimited possibilities. Dreams of your wedding, your future as a couple and the family and life you will build are not just exciting but real. When my friends Danny and Molly announced their engagement, I was heart-glad. Danny was my husband’s roommate when we met and I always wanted to set him up with one girlfriend of mine or another, but no one ever seemed quite right. When my friend wanted me to help her set him up with one of her friends I wasn’t so sure. Who was this girl? Was she good enough for Danny? Not only was she good enough, she was perfect for him, and as I watched them date the last two years, I had the feeling that I have with my husband, that some things really are destined and that some people are truly meant to be together.
“A happy marriage has in it all the pleasures of friendships, all the enjoyment of sense and reason – and indeed all the sweets of life.”

Last time I photographed Austyn she was 6 months old. Four months later she is crawling up stairs, clapping and waving and cutting some beautiful teeth for our impromptu photoshoot!

Today’s weather was uncertain. Even the weatherman contradicted himself as I watched this morning. I had a photoshoot for an engineering company planned and just needed 1 hour of sunshine. After postponing for one hour, the photo gods smiled on me and provided some great weather for the shoot. After the shoot, I decided to take advantage of this sunbreak and walked around the Everett Marina. This is what I found…

Last night my husband and I donned our finest eighties duds and celebrated our dear friend Sheena’s birthday at her themed party. Besides some spectacularly silly costumes and karoke, there were great photo ops all night…
And finally, maybe you can tell me who my husband most resembles: The guy from Reno 911 or Goose from Top Gun?
